Catchy Coin Stories

Catchy Coin Stories

Students in my class were struggling with recognizing the difference between coins, and identifying them correctly. I wasn't sure how I was going to fix this problem since I had told them the names over and over and shown them different features of the coins numerous times. I had my go to visual poster hanging for all to see, and still nothing!

Fast forward to the following day while driving to work (don't you always get the best ideas when you are nowhere near a pen and paper!) I just started thinking of funny stories that might help make the students connect the name of the coin to its features. Went in that day, told my funny stories and by the next day over half the class was able to identify every coin.

Here are the stories in poster form that I came up with to help my kiddos!

The Right Time

Well I've been waiting for the "right" time to dive in and get my Master's Degree... then I realized that there is no "right" time when you are a mom and teacher. There will always be school, sports, church, and other obligations that will make you feel like you can't do it, but my goal is to prove myself wrong! So with many encouraging words from family, friends, and coworkers I am diving in on July 11th to a new adventure! Can't wait to see where it will take me.

So if you are like me and a busy mom or dad don't let that hold you back! We can do it! Don't wait for the "right" time because it may not ever get here. Who knows what opportunities might pass us by while we are waiting for that perfect moment to get here. The time is NOW!!!

Removing Permanent Marker

This trick has been around for a while, but if you haven't seen it you are going to want to know about it!

How to easily remove permanent marker from slick surfaces or laminated products:

Step 1: Write the information you want to stay permanent.

Step 2: Use product like you normally would.

Step 3: When ready to remove, draw over your permanent writing with a dry-erase marker.
Step 4: Wipe off with a paper towel. Usually a wet paper towel makes it a little easier to wipe off!
That's it! Quick and easy and a tool that all teachers have at their fingertips!
